Position Overview:

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Engineering Leader 2 who has a proven track record of leading and managing a team, who is rooted within the “life safety” discipline and who has a comprehensive experience base with fire protection products, building codes, risk management, and the integration of fire alarm systems as an integral component of the life safety demands within physical projects.

The candidate will serve as a fire safety subject matter expert, utilizing their engineering expertise to interact with architects and engineers to define life safety requirements. The primary focus for this role is serving as the lead engineer for fire protection, coupled with a comprehensive knowledge around building and life safety codes, and fire alarm systems.

Position Requirements:

· Must have experience and previous knowledge in developing and providing quality solutions to complex challenges specific to fire alarm and fire suppression within various project industries.

· Proficiency in a multitude of Engineering Technologies and various Application Methods Including:

o REVIT

o AUTOCAD

o Bluebeam

o Microsoft Office Suite

· Applied experience utilizing collaborative techniques to effectively lead a diverse project-team in a constructive and positive manner.

· Provide success in leading technical meetings, strategy driven discussions and solution-method ideas that result in positive conclusions.

· Advanced knowledge and working experience in technical engineering aspects including:

o Application of Principles, Design Techniques, Engineering Procedures, and Equipment knowledge specific to a multitude of Life Safety and Fire Protection Systems for a variety of key-clientele.

· Proficient understanding of Cost Estimation, Finance Systems and Advanced Principles of Financial Management as it relates to Engineering & Specialty Construction.

· Must have applied proficiency in creating and maintaining project baselines.

· Applied proficiency in effectively utilizing presentation tools and techniques, to deliver a clear understanding of project details to the appropriate parties.

· Must have expertise in Technical Design, Build & Development of new-products, innovative technologies, or services provided to the client with a Turnkey-Solution driven strategy.

· Applied proficiency in the design, build, and development of new products, technologies, or complex solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

· Technical lead for the design, manufacturing and commissioning of fire detection & alarm, and mass notification systems.

· Build and lead a team of engineers responsible for overseeing the entire project life cycle of fire detection and alarm systems.

· Manage engineering resource availability, assigning project engineering teams to ensure timely execution of milestones with a continued emphasis on quality.

· Maintain design standards and processes for the Life Safety Group.

· Consult with architects, engineers and other clients on Building/Fire Code & Standards including negotiating with Fire Marshals and Building Officials.

· Responsible for leading technical Engineering discussions, providing a clear direction for project-teams and ensuring all programs are prioritized as required.

· Lead solution-driven discussions and validate the quality of project outcomes on a consistent basis.

· Produce shop drawings and deliverables consistent with contract requirements and regulations, while adhering to industrial Codes and Standards.

· Addressing any Mechanical Design, Fabrication, Construction, and Commissioning issues.

· Develop system sequence of operations, compliance matrices and other project support documentation.

· Responsible for identifying, recommending, and implementing work process improvements as it relates to specific project details to ensure success prior to inception.

· Oversight and ability to conduct final reviews of all technical project details prior to the implementation of the project, and within timeline expectations.

· Ensure all Engineering best practices are understood and implemented across multiple Engineering Disciplines, Project-Teams, and diverse programs.

· Responsible for the Management of all technical risks specific to each project, and proactively present each client with specific outlined solutions to minimize negative outcomes.

· Must consistently partner with multiple Engineering disciplines to develop new and future Engineers as it relates to the training, mentorship, and growth of the future experts in Engineering Leadership.

· Participate in Pre-Installation Testing & Checkout (PITCO) processes including system programming, integration testing & equipment build outs.

· Develop Fire Alarm and Life Safety Project Scope, Schedule, Budget & discipline coordination.

· Participate in & ensure successful project construction, start-up, and commissioning.

· Serve as Subject Matter Expert and perform quality control review of project documentation.

· Lead the development and maintenance of project artifacts that are required to ensure project success outcomes.

· Must prioritize the leading and managing the integration of data from multiple company platforms, with the ability to analyze the data and provide insight to the technical solution related to the project-specific issue based on the conclusion of findings.

· Ensure all Safety regulations are adhered to, and any issues are identified and resolved immediately.

· Maintaining a positive, assertive relationship with all project personnel to achieve project milestones and overall project success.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Discipline or Construction Management and a minimum of 10-12 years of experience in the design and review of Fire Protection Systems with emphasis on fire alarm systems in mission critical facilities, healthcare, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

· Master’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering Management, or Business Administration with 7-9 Years of Experience specific to Fire Protection Systems.

· Registered P. E. in Engineering with a strong preference to Fire Protection.

· Experience in developing plans and specifications for a wide variety of Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems.

· Intimate knowledge of NFPA and building codes; experience with working with plan reviewers & AHJs.

· Experience commissioning and testing fire alarm systems is a must.

· Experience managing a team directly, performing code reviews, scheduling workload, supervising, mentoring team, reviewing of designs and deliverables, and hiring of new team members.

· Intimate knowledge of NFPA and building codes; experience with working with plan reviewers & AHJs.

· General life safety design knowledge along with programming and commissioning of FA systems; experience with Notifier & VESDA is a plus.

· Fluent in ACAD/Revit or other design tools.

· Proficient in complete system layout in accordance with code, battery calculations and develop sequence of operations/scripts for complete FA systems.

· Commissioning experience is a must.

· Ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Desired Certifications & Experience:

· Professional Engineering (PE) License in Fire Protection.

· NICET, Fire Alarm Systems Level IV

· CFPS, Certified Fire Protection Specialist a plus

· NICET, Water-based system inspection and testing a plus

· PMP, Project Management professional a plus

· CCM, Certified Construction Manager a plus

· NOTIFIER and/or SIEMENS OEM certifications a plus
