Overview
Manages and coordinates activities of employees engaged in inventory control.
Maintains inventory as required by production schedules and/or customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying costs.
Typical Functions
Minimizes inventory and carrying cost, replenishing inventory as required by production schedules and/or customer orders.
Reviews inventories taken by other workers and compares them with office records, or computes figures from sales, equipment, shipping, production, purchase, or stock records to obtain current theoretical inventory.
Verifies clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count.
Investigates or reports reasons for discrepancies.
Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
Interprets company policy to employees and enforces safety regulations.
Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
Abilities:
Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Identify and understand the speech of another person.
